  • Bio

Glenn Ashton, who writes interesting books, used to be a banker and a lawyer, but had more fun writing and so turned to his hobby.

Welcome to my latest How-To book, written for authors who wish to better market their books.

It is also for all those who use social media in some form or another (do you sell products or services other than books on the Internet? Then this book is for you, too.).

Based on proven marketing methods, Small Steps to Bigger Book Sales is for every author with books to sell, or anyone who wishes to improve dramatically their participation in social networks.

    Your 20 Tasks:

You will be guided to do 20 Tasks, over 9 months, as part of your very own Small Steps Plan to market your books.

You will start with the first 10 tasks over 3 months and the next 10 over the next 6 months. Then you will review and revise your next Small Steps Plan to cover the next 12 months.

    Your Book Promotion Plan:

You easily-prepared book promotion plan will set out methodical, small steps every week to market your books where they stand the best chance of being bought by readers.

    What you will learn:

    You will learn how to:

    1. create your Team of advisors to help you every step of the way;
    2. define your Target Readers, so that you can persuade them to buy your books;
    3. find and use many of top social network forums, where readers and writers mix, so that you can build your Clan, or team of supporters;
    4. get reviews of your books;
    5. use other social networks tools easily and effectively; and do all this at your own speed and in the free time you have.

    Easy to use:

A revised, updated and slimmed down version of my earlier book, Your Purrfect Way to Publish & Promote your Amazon & Kindle Books, Small Steps has been changed to make it easier for an author to do what has to be done to promote books professionally.

It is very easy for you to start and to carry out your promotion plan, with most of the heavy lifting done for you.

    How to start:

Your whole marketing plan is already prepared for you. Chapter 25 has a detailed template for your own Small Steps Plan, of 200 small steps in 20 tasks. All you have to do is add the target starting dates for your many small steps on your road to success. You can easily make any tweaks to it that you and your Team want to.

    How to make it work:

The easy way for you and your Team to carry out your plan is also provided. Chapter 26 has a very detailed 120-item Weekly Engagement Checklist. Each week you simply do those things that need to be done that week, confident that the Checklist will keep you on course.

How You can get some very useful Bonus gifts:

If you go to Glenn Ashton’s blog site, you will see in the right hand column a heading Please sign up to get my free Newsletter & Bonus downloads. Click on the download button to have bonus items sent to you by email.

The subscription form will ask you to enter your name and email address in his email list so that you will be sent future emails from him, as well as issues of his digital Newsletter.

Signing up does not cost you anything nor does it oblige you to do anything.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the emails you will get from Glenn.

As soon as you sign up, you will be eligible for more bonus, free gifts from Glenn. These will come to you over a period of about a month, and at intervals after that, as long as you have not unsubscribed from his email list.

Two of the bonus gifts you will get will be especially interesting to you, and worth a great deal to you as an author.

The first one is a copy of Chapter 25 of Small Steps to Bigger Book Sales – this is a copy of the Small Steps Plan template.

The template is in the book itself, but because you will get both a Microsoft Word and an Excel spreadsheet version of it, you will at once be able to use it for your very own Small Steps Plan for marketing your own books. You can change these copies to suit your needs. You don’t have to type out the template in the book because this is already done for you.

The second useful bonus gift is Chapter 26 of Small Steps to Bigger Book Sales – the weekly engagement checklist of 120 items that you can use to make sure that you are doing your best to market your books in places where your readers are. This is a Word document that you can change to suit your own needs.

    Your author friends:

If you like the Small Steps template and the weekly engagement checklist, please pass them on – free of charge – to your author friends for them to benefit from using them.

We all, as self-published authors, should help develop the Independent Publishers (Indies, including self-published authors) as talked about in Task 19 of Small Steps to Bigger Book Sales.

AMAZON & KINDLE REVIEWS OF Glenn Ashton’s books:

The Euros: Notre Dame Point Zero:

    First 5-star review:

The Euros grab the headlines and the reader!
By BOBA on March 1 2015
    Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Like many of Glenn Ashton’s other books, this one grabs you right away and doesn’t let up until the very end.
The ”Euros” will satisfy anyone who is a fan of the Rainbow Six and Private para-military groups fighting off the bad guys. However, they are a bit classier and less super-human, therefore much more believable.
In this case the bad guys are taken from the current headlines and set in both Notre Dame Cathedral and the sewers in Paris. The location is finely crafted and shows an obvious flair for detailed research.
This is a highly enjoyable read but don’t expect to just read a bit and then put it down. That won’t happen!
    Second 5-star review:
    5.0 out of 5 stars
Wow, the complex plot twists and characters left me waiting anxiously for the next installment of the Euro’s.

By Robert Drobish on May 27, 2016

The plot started by taking you down one, methodical path, with apparently insignificant happenstance encounters. It very quickly morphed into a complex, ’pay attention or you miss it’ myriad of thoughts, actions, memories, quick-reaction plot turns that make you want to hurry up and see what happens to the elite teams and their critical situations and calculating foes. Only to be taken down another plot twist. I can’t wait to see what happens next to the Euro’s teams and their every-changing, every-outwitting, prey…or predator.

REVIEW OF Your Purrfect Way to Publish & Promote your Amazon & Kindle Books:

Author Sarah Sheard awarded The Purrfect Way 5 stars in her Amazon review.
    Her review:

    A powerful go-to manual for aspiring self–publishers, May 21, 2013

I thought it absolutely fantastic in its usability and breadth. I’m a novelist who recently began ebook self-publishing. I’ve figured out some of the basics but this book maps a gazillion new pathways onward and upward.

I’ve found nothing to compare to this manual in clarity, range of topics and dip-in-ability. Ashton’s been generous in offering this amount of research so affordably to ebook self-publishers at all levels. Written in a readable, friendly style too.

    REVIEWS OF Silent Lips:

    Silent Lips is a rush!

By BOBA on February 22, 2012
    Format: Paperback Verified Purchase

Reading Silent Lips by Glenn Ashton is like getting on a train heading up a long mountain. The suspense builds and builds until you reach the top and then swoops down into a very surprising ending. The level of detail involved in describing the battle against a plague-like virus attacking New York City is amazing and it feels like you are there in the laboratories and treatment rooms as well as in the highest offices in the land.

Beware that this book can keep you up well past your bedtime. The complexity almost demands a consistent dedication to finishing the book. Then you want to start over to make sure you understand the underlying science, but it’s not really a necessity that you do, as it is just a very fine read.

It is definitely an amazing first book and I look forward to other books by this author.

    Obelisk Seven…..

By Rita on June 17, 2012
    Format: Kindle Edition

I finished Obelisk 7! It was such an interesting experience reading a book written by people you know! The amount of research you two must have done to write that book was daunting even to imagine!! I am vaguely curious as to why the ”sex” scene was so muted… What? Am I the only one who anticipates a good sex scene after a relationship build-up? I want to go back and re-read it because there were so many interesting ecological ideas during that ”WorldHeat” show. I always admire anyone who can peer into the future and imagine all the many twists and turns life can take…much like a reality chess game of life. And you know how much I appreciated the crows, cats and even the number 7! I love the picture of you two on the camels too.

My world view was shaken by Obelisk Seven
By BOBA on March 18, 2012
    Format: Paperback

Obelisk Seven combines strange signals from the world’s major obelisks, bacteria that desroy carbon sources before they can be used, a travelling environmental activism panel and an international cabal bent on world domination. On top of that, – no, I won’t go any further and ruin the suspense. Suffice it to say, this is an excellent read that will challenge many of your perceptions in a number of areas. Vey well written and researched.

    Third review:

Fast paced, fascinating and brimming with intrigue, 5 Jun 2012
    By becky from the shire

This review is for: Obelisk Seven Illustrated (paperback)

If novels are structured like plays, then Obelisk Seven is the play where you spend all of the interval anxious, waiting to know what is going to happen, discussing the possible ending with your friends and resenting any distractions such as the overpriced wine you’re drinking.

The novel is fast paced yet deals with three overlapping and complex plots without feeling cumbersome – global warming, ancient Egyptian civilisation and carbon eating ’bugs’ destroying the world’s oil reserves all come together pretty seamlessly. There’s some good characters who you can’t help but wish were your friends, and the chance to explore Europe as they go all over the place investigating the mystery of ancient Egyptian obelisks sending out bizarre radio signals. I won’t walk past the obelisk on Embankment again without thinking of this book!!!

I also really liked the ideas in this book on global warming and how to combat it, and sort of found myself wishing that we DID have programs on Saturday night television debating these issues, as the X-Factor style popular TV program that this book imagines is something the UK and other countries really needs to have. I also loved the insight into ancient Egypt and into how its artifacts like obelisks were taken to countries in Europe.

Despite its exploration of some heavy issues, this novel is still good escapist thriller action – an impressive achievement. Read it if you want to learn, think, be challenged and at the same time enjoy a very good, un-put-down-able story.

    Review of LittleTown: Combo One

    Little Town–Big Delight

By Happy Reader on April 29, 2012
    Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

My daughter is 10 years old and couldn’t put this book down while she was reading it. She had this to say about it: ”I loved the book and really liked the story about Vola and her flying on the rope. If there is a second book, I would very much enjoy it. PS I think this would make a great play.”
